A look into the scientific heart of ADARA
The Meteoritics Department represents the core of research at the ADARA Institute. From our facilities in the Canary Islands, we combine microscopic observation, geochemical analysis, and other analytical techniques to decipher the history of the materials that gave rise to the solar system. Each sample arriving at the laboratory is treated as a unique testament to the cosmic processes that shaped the planets and their parent bodies.
The laboratory operates under international classification standards recognized by the Meteoritical Society. Research ranges from the study of impactites and ordinary chondrites to lunar rocks, martian basalts and the rarest achondrites among the planetary materials. The curation and conservation of these samples maintains a reliable and accessible scientific reference for researchers and museums around the world.
In addition to analytical work, the department promotes scientific outreach through publications, exhibitions, conferences, and educational materials. Our goal is to make the knowledge generated from meteorites accessible, contributing to both academic science and public education. At ADARA, we understand that each extraterrestrial fragment is not just a rock from space, but a page in the history of the universe that we are still learning to read.
